Exploring the history of beads used as decoration and other personal adornments, The Bead Museum has an assortment of more than a hundred thousand beads and beaded items. Selections from its collection are displayed in different themed exhibits, such as The History of Beads and The Language of Beads, where the 40,000-year history of beads is explored. Showing pre-Columbian beads, ritual objects from Africa, prayer beads and more, the museum also runs frequent exhibitions of modern beads, including highly ornamented glass and painted pieces. The museum is just a few blocks north of the Glendale Police Museum in downtown.
